Looks like the server is forcing seta rate "500000" in uoconfig_mp.cfg.

This doesn't seem right, a more normal value would be seta rate "25000".

Have been getting connection interuption messages, which I never got before.

That's actually intentional since the bandwidth usage of RotU sometimes peaks up to 300-400 kb/s.
Normal servers without mods usually can handle 25 kb/s just fine but RotU runs a lot smoother with higher bandwidth.

What's your internet speed? Is it higher than 500 kb/s ?
Did you try to run a ping check over longer periods?

Alternatively you can try to connect via our backup server: /connect backup.rotu.pw and check if the problem persists there

Good to know the setting is correct.

My internet is 400 Mbps down and 100 Mbps up.

I did run continuous pings to various destinations and there is packet loss at various points along the route to some destinations.

Tried the backup server about the same, ping is about 20ms higher on the backup server.

Deleted the cfg file and let it be recreated.  Game looks and runs better at least.

So ISP traffic provider issues dropping packets mid route.

Thanks Fabio
