If the key is saying invalid it could be due to it not an actual CD Key or it is conflicting you can try to reinstall the game and try again.

Hello there bhs784 to be able to play on servers you need an actual CD Key I would recommend buying the game through steam. The CD Key you have will not work on any other servers unfortunately because it is not a valid one.
