and I don't get it..

0000 1001 is binary... You can cut out the leading 0000 so you have 1001 which is in decimal 9
But what is the 0b for?

Most popular compilers for c/c++ accept the 0b prefix.

It's a bit of a habit to write in bytes and not in nibbles or even smaller like 11.

Ah I see, so it's just a prefix.. In normal binary you only have 1 and 0.
